About Us
History
Led to start in Pretoria, South Africa, The Shirley Ehi Foundation (SEF) was born out of Shirley’s heartfelt desire to bring joy and aid to those in need. Under the guidance of Dr. Shirley Edokpa, the foundation has been supporting organizations worldwide that work tirelessly to uplift children, families, and entire communities. We place a special emphasis on youth education, believing that knowledge can unlock a world of possibilities. Since 2012, we have been offering assistance to organizations that share our mission, working together to create a brighter future for all.
Mission
The Shirley Ehi Foundation is a humanitarian organization that serves as a catalyst to support the education, empowerment and protection of children, girls, boys of youth age and marginalized families by breaking the cycle of poverty to become economically well-off in the United States and around the World.
Shirley Ehi Foundation
DR. SHIRLEY EDOKPA is a leader, public health advisor and a philanthropist.
Rooted in the ideals of compassion, empowerment, and global engagement. In fulfilling our mission to provide better education for students in orphanages and scholarships for those seeking to give back to their communities, we have seen the transformative impact of education and philanthropy in both the United States and abroad.
Our foundation’s initiatives have touched lives in countless ways, and as we look toward the future, our goal is to extend our reach even further. Our efforts, which started in South Africa, have begun to create ripples of change in communities across the globe. The upcoming projects, including building schools in countries, creating scholarships, supporting educational exchanges, establishing women’s shelters, and constructing youth centers, all contribute to creating a world where opportunity and hope flourish.
We envision a world where every child has access to a quality education, regardless of their circumstances. To this end, we will be committing to building a school in Africa, particularly focused on providing education for academically gifted girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our foundation understands the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty, and we aim to create lasting change by providing these girls with the skills and knowledge they need to uplift themselves, their families, and their communities.
The Shirley Ehi Foundation recognizes the value of partnerships in achieving its mission. We are dedicated to forging strategic alliances with organizations, both in the U.S. and around the world, that share our commitment to youth education, mentorship, and scholarship programs. Together, we can ensure that even more students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to achieve their dreams.
As we look beyond education, our foundation remains committed to addressing the immediate needs of the most vulnerable and homeless communities, both in the U.S. and globally.
By partnering with organizations such as the U.S Conference of Hunger, Nutrition and Health, and USAID, we seek to address food insecurity, particularly in the wake of the global challenges we face. Shirley is also an Educator, and a member of the White House Historical Association Teacher Institute.
The vision of The Shirley Ehi Foundation is one of a world in which all people have access to the tools and resources they need to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background. We will continue to strive towards this vision, working tirelessly to uplift communities and create a more just and compassionate world for all
